Harvest 2011

Like 2010, this year continues the pattern of cool weather and late harvests.  Yields are down due to shatter incurred from the early and late June rains during bloom.  However, the fruit that did develop is some of the best ever, so exceptional wines are anticipated from this vintage.  Two rain storms moved across the appellation during early October, challenging harvest plans in many vineyards.  Additional rain storms moved through the appellation later in October and by early November harvests were either complete or not going to happen due to unripe or spoiled fruit.
